People ask me sometimes where I learned to build natural houses. I tell them in Kindergarten, when the table in front of me was full of small things to build with, things we found in the garbage or from nature. It was the playfulness that I can still remember, how much joy that gave me. This is the main approach when I build natural houses, intuitively but with enough common sense. I like to share the experience of building and living in a natural house, as it makes such a difference in how we experience life. In the last six years we had the pleasure to have hundreds of guests and tens of volunteers whose eyes and senses were opened.

We have at the moment two places you can rent. Book via AIRBNB (check the calendar there for availability).
Via email: info@bluesberrywoods.com (if you want to avoid the airbnb fee).
The workshop was built with a combination of natural and recycled materials. It has a reciprocal roof with a skylight that provides a spread-out natural light during the day. It was extremely low-cost and does not have heating but it gives me a lot of joy to have all my hand tools in one place
The Art Studio has an open access on all sides, letting in a diffuse light upon the cob walls. It’s a place where Ayet can work on her sculptures during the summer months, often with a small exhibition of her work.
In 2023 our visitors can enjoy a sauna experience that is for maximum two people. It’s a small and intimate place to relax, reflect and dream, built as a hexagon with short logs. A cold shower outside is optional.
The Greenhouse was built with a construction of old recycled windows of different sizes, hiding the frames with cob. The back wall consists of big boulders and earth behind, providing thermal mass that heats up during the sunny summer days and release that heat during the night and later in the year, extending the season this way. The upper part of the wall is made of vertical short logs. The greenhouse is a cozy place to sit when it’s too cold outside.
The Bird’s House is our latest constructed house; a collaboration of volunteers and even a few Airbnb guests who assisted in the construction of it. The cob (clay, sand straw and water) we used for it came from a few meters away, literally taken up from the earth. It’s fully insulated, but the windows are single glass, that let the sunlight in easier to warm up the space inside. We call it the Bird’s House because during the construction (which took about one year), a few wild birds approached us very closely every day, to satisfy their curiosity what kind of nest we were building. The bed inside resembles a nest. At this moment the Bird’s House is occupied but available to show guests the in- and outside.
The Coffee & Philosophy Cafe is the place where our guests can cook and eat. It’s also a meeting place for the other visitors at our place. During events, it becomes a place for performance or screening of films. The interior is still changing every year, making it cozier. At this moment the cafe is not open for the public.
We stumbled upon this place on Airbnb and decided to leave the city for a couple of days. We were greeted by two of the hosts who showed us around... read more and told us about the lot. We stayed in the tree house, which was very cozy but felt very intrigued by the other spaces too. Our stay was very calm and it is a perfect place to go if you just want a quiet getaway with beautiful nature. Despite the calmness there were enough things to do around, like taking a hike or swimming in the lake. Besides a wonderful accommodation the hosts were very friendly and made us feel very welcomed.
